Helping the U.N. Transform Digital Engagement and Optimize Sites
Since 1966, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) – one of the world’s biggest aid agencies – has worked to eliminate poverty and inequality by helping countries achieve sustainable economic growth. But UNDP’s websites relied on many different content management systems (CMS), which led to usability issues for web editors and marketers, poor experiences for website visitors, and low performance in search results. To better serve its global stakeholders, UNDP urgently needed to migrate 200+ corporate websites to a multi-lingual, flexible, and responsive website, as well as implement a user-friendly CMS. When UNDP reached out to us to help it accomplish these two goals, we built a CMS that both streamlined the user experience and optimized high-performance websites.

Created a strategic roadmap by leveraging Drupal (an open-source CMS), Acquia Cloud and Acquia Site Factory.

Created a scalable platform where highly responsive sites can be built and managed.

Enabled UNDP to migrate 200+ sites and 30K multilingual pages to the new platform and optimize for high-performance.

Implemented a simple, no-code, drag-and-drop authoring interface to allow editors to make updates hassle-free.
UNDP’s content creators no longer need IT on speed dial: low-code tools and simplified processes allow editors to publish in real-time and share content easily. Meanwhile, after UNDP’s corporate websites were migrated to a new unified platform, IT teams are able to work efficiently from a centralized hosting solution managed from a single interface. The benefits include 200x more search results and decreased response times to queries. UNDP now offers consistent experiences across its many websites, can effectively share its message with a global audience, and is able to scale.
