Material Announces Hiring of Three Senior Insights Leaders

NEW YORK, NY – April 30, 2025 – Material, a growth strategy company providing consumer data and insights, brand and product innovation, is pleased to announce the appointment of three senior insights leaders. Marisa McMahon joins Material as Senior Vice President and Consumer Portfolio Lead, Erik Overby joins as Senior Vice President and Healthcare Portfolio Lead and Mark Burles joins as a Senior Vice President focused on technology and B2B companies.

Marisa McMahon (Senior Vice President and Consumer Portfolio Lead) is a seasoned insights executive who has held senior delivery, strategy, growth and partnership roles across industries including technology, consumer goods, beauty, luxury, financial services and media. She has more than 25 years of experience building deep, strategic relationships at all levels of client organizations and designing research solutions to address their thorniest challenges and most ambitious business goals. At Material, she will be instrumental in driving growth and success for a diverse portfolio of globally recognized consumer brands. Most recently Executive Vice President and General Manager at MarketCast, she also held several senior leadership positions at Kantar.

 

Erik Overby (Senior Vice President and Healthcare Portfolio Lead) joins Material with over 25 years of experience applying advanced research methods to study, understand and predict patient, physician and consumer behavior in the US and global healthcare sectors. He has a wealth of expertise in team leadership, product and brand development and innovation stemming from 15 years at GlaxoSmithKline. Erik then led healthcare strategy and insights teams at premier global partners including Affinnova/Nielsen, Kantar and ZS Associates. As Material’s healthcare portfolio lead, Erik will leverage a cross-disciplinary approach to help bring clients closer to their customers, drive brand growth and improve patient outcomes.

 

Mark Burles (Senior Vice President, Strategy + Insights) is a recognized market research and insights leader with more than 25 years of experience, primarily focused in the technology sector. He brings industry-leading expertise building research, reputation and public affairs programs to inform strategy for some of the world’s best-known companies. A seasoned and innovative insights consultant, Mark delivers impact for clients by translating research results into clearly defined and executable strategic roadmaps. He previously held senior leadership positions at Ipsos Public Affairs and PSB Insights.
